It’s getting towards our next concert and we’re happy to announce that we have a new and improved venue for Monday night practices; the Music Room at Haywards Primary School, Crediton. Several years ago, before the Pandemic, we used a room at the school, but now it’s been modernised and refurbished. We have a great relationship with the school, many of us having had our children and grandchildren attend over the years.
We’re happy to be back!
We hope you’re going to come to our next Community Concert in aid of Mid Devon Mobility.
This takes place on Sunday April 16th at 5pm@ the Elephant on the Green, Lawrence Green Crediton. A neighbourhood venue for a growing neighbourhood choir.
The Crediton Singers joined Crediton Town Band to produce a fantastic concert on Thursday 15th December at Crediton Congregational Church.
Despite freezing cold temperatures, local music lovers attended in numbers and gave much positive feedback about our programme of music for the event that included African Noel by Andre Thomas, Underneath The Tree by Kelly Clarkson, Where Are You Christmas (Faith Hill), The Water is Wide (Traditional), Lost Words Blessing (Julie Fowlis/Spell Songs Collective), Carol of the Bells and A Child Is Born In Bethlehem (Philip Stopford).
Even better, new potential singers came forward and will be joining us on Monday 2nd January when our 2023 term begins. There’s never been a more opportune time to join our fantastic, fun and friendly Mid Devon Community Choir.

Crediton Singers enjoying our first event of the new season, Penstone Glade, Saturday 24th September
Despite coughs and colds members of the Crediton Singers delighted an audience of around 60 people at Penstone Glade, Penstone, Colebrooke, on Saturday evening 24th September. The event, billed as Soul Singing, was fun, friendly and positive as families from local villages enjoyed the singing, refreshments and entertainment.
This is exactly the sort of event the choir enjoys supporting; organised by the Penstone Glade Community Association, we helped to raise money for maintaining a green space that enables local people to take time out, relax and be at one with nature. The focus on positivity, mental health and community is perfect…
Choir member Devorah Langford reads a poem by a Ukrainian writer during our successful Cheriton Fitzpaine concert held in Saturday April 23rd.
Despite this being a small village, with other events happening nearby and over the same weekend, we still managed to raise an impressive £335 for the British Red Cross Appeal.
Two further charity concerts in this series are to be held; at Yeoford Community Hall on Saturday May 21st at 4pm, featuring Clare Watson, the Crediton Singers, and soloists, featuring new songs and anthems, and at Crediton Methodist Church on Saturday 18th June, again at 4pm.
CREDITON SINGERS SMASH TOTAL RAISED! £912 COLLECTED FOR BRITISH RED CROSS UKRAINE APPEAL ON SATURDAY 2ND APRIL!
Crediton Singers prepare for the Concert for Ukraine, Methodist Church, Saturday 2nd April…
120 local people packed into the Crediton Methodist Church on Union Rd at 4pm, Saturday 2nd April. A fantastic £912 was raised.
In an incredible concert that saw the choir produce its best event yet, singer Clare Watson wowed the audience with vocal classics Caro Mio Ben (Giordani), Pie Jesu (Faure) and Somewhere (Bernstein), the choir sang popular choral favourites by composers John Rutter, Bob Chilcott, and Lisa Quartel, 60s hitmakers The Seekers and by supergroup Journey.
Choir Musical Director Tim Matthews played piano classics by Bach, Mozart, Yann Tiersen, and Thomas Dunhill while his pupils Willem Snowden and Yagoda Radominska impressed the audience with their enthusiasm and choice of music. Rosalind Moseley and Devorah Langford read beautiful, poignant poems and David and Barbara Greenwood offered violin and vocal solos to add to a varied and exciting concert.
Our heartfelt thanks are given to all those who supported this event; our wonderful choir for their efforts before and during the concert, to our soloists, to local people in their moving response to people in need, to Crediton businesses who advertised and promoted the concert and, last but not least, to the Methodist Church for offering such fantastic help and support.
This whole thing was put together in just two weeks. We should all be proud!
Some of the music we’re singing this term includes anthems by John Rutter, Bob Chilcott and Sarah Quartel, popular songs by Journey, the Seekers, Chuck Berry and many more plus some cool modern folk material…come and join us!
